Why I Bail My Kids Out Sometimes

It’s such a hard thing figuring out what works best with parenting! And each family and child has different needs. While I don’t encourage the “helicopter parent” mentality, here’s why I think kids need you to give them mercy and intervene for them sometimes. When you are able. I recently spent a whole weekend with my cousins, mourning the loss of their beautiful godly mother. Each of them got up and shared how her constant, unconditional love and acceptance of them, even through their “rough spots”, affected them and changed them. It has made me think deeply about, what matters in the end, is love. My cousins, as grown-ups, have followed their mom’s example. They are humble, God-loving people that take care of others. I know there’s such a thing as tough love. But I also know God tends to show way more mercy to me always than I show on a daily basis.
And ultimately, we learn mercy by being shown mercy. (Micah 6:8)
