(Luke 1:44) Continuing on the series I started the other day, with simple meditations for the mysteries of the rosary, today I want to talk about the 2nd Joyful mystery, the Visitation. The Joyful mysteries, consist of the Annunciation (Luke 1:26-38) The Visitation (Luke 1:39-56) The Nativity (Luke 2:1-20) The Presentation (Luke 2:22-40) and the Finding of Jesus in the Temple (Luke 2:41-52)
There are so many beautiful things to meditate on with the Visitation. When I pray the Joyful mysteries and meditate on the Visitation, I think about how Mary, after finding out she was to be the mother of God, rather than bathe in the glory of it, immediately thought of someone else, and rushed to bring Jesus to her pregnant cousin. And when she did, she brought sheer joy. She brought Jesus and his joy, to someone in need. And sometimes I ask her to bring her son Jesus to me, and my family, or I ask to have the grace to bring Jesus to others by being a conduit of His grace, like she was. Then when she got there, she burst forth in this beautiful spontaneous prayer of praise for her Creator, we call the Magnificat. And I think about asking that my life may be like the Magnificat, in which she gives God all the glory, in the presence of all around her.
